Checking a machine: One word, two obligations.
Optima Machine Verifier will focus on verifying the conformity of a machine. It will not decide: the EU declaration of conformity remains that of the manufacturer, with the notified body when the procedure involves one.

Optima Machine Verifier is a software product developed by Optima AI. It will be used to verify the compliance of a machine. We are not selling it today and have no plans to announce a date.

The term covers two obligations that do not fall to the same person. The manufacturer assesses the conformity of his machine before placing it on the market. The user maintains it in a state of conformity once it is in service and, for equipment designated by decrees, has it periodically inspected.
It follows the conformity assessment procedure provided for its machine, draws up the EU declaration of conformity and affixes the CE marking. It assumes responsibility for this.
In France, it maintains the machine in compliance with the design rules applicable at the time of its commissioning in the establishment, including in relation to its user manual.
Decrees designate the equipment concerned and set out the periodicity and content thereof. For lifting devices and accessories, it is the decree of March 1, 2004.
Confusing the two leads to the wrong answer: periodic verification does not replace the manufacturer’s declaration, and the declaration does not exempt the user from their own verifications.
Optima Machine Verifier will focus on verifying the conformity of a machine, without deciding in its place for those who are responsible for compliance. It will not replace the manufacturer’s procedures, periodic verifications, or those who carry them out.
Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027. Before placing a machine on the market, the manufacturer follows a conformity assessment procedure, draws up the EU declaration of conformity and affixes the CE marking. The procedure depends on the category of the machine (Article 25).
The manufacturer applies internal production control (module A, Annex VI).
For example, lifting bridges for vehicles or portable machines for explosive load fixing. The notified body is mandatory: modules B and C, module H or module G. Module A is not possible.
For example, cold-working presses for manually loaded metals or devices for detecting persons. Module A only if the machine is designed in accordance with harmonized standards or common specifications covering all relevant essential requirements; otherwise modules B and C, H or G.
The EU declaration of conformity follows the model of Annex V, Part A (Article 21). It is kept up to date, translated into the language of the Member State concerned, and the manufacturer assumes responsibility for it. The CE marking is affixed in a visible, legible and indelible manner before placing on the market; it is followed by the number of the notified body when the procedure so requires (Articles 23 and 24).
Until 19 January 2027, it is Directive 2006/42/EC: categories of Annex IV, procedures of Article 12, CE declaration of conformity of Annex II, Part 1, section A. A machine placed on the market in accordance with the directive before 20 January 2027 may continue to be made available (Article 52 of the Regulation).
On the user side, in France, it is the Labour Code. Work equipment is used and maintained in a way that preserves health and safety, including in the event of modification (article L4321-1). It remains in a state of conformity with the design rules applicable when it is put into service in the establishment (article R4322-1). Equipment designated by decrees is subject to initial verification and periodic general checks, the results of which are recorded in the safety register (articles R4323-22, R4323-23 and R4323-25).

Optima Machine Verifier will focus on verifying the conformity of a machine. It will not decide that a machine is compliant.
The manufacturer, who issues the EU declaration of conformity, must do so with the notified body when the procedure requires it. Not the software.
Its functions are not being discontinued, and we will not describe them until they are. If your question concerns a specific machine, we will discuss it during the 30-minute exchange.
The question of the conformity of a machine arises at two moments, for two different people. In both cases, the decision remains with the one who answers it.
Before the EU declaration of conformity and the CE marking, you want to know what the machine still has to show. The declaration remains yours.
The Labour Code prohibits the commissioning or use of equipment that does not comply with the design rules and certification procedures applicable to it (article L4321-2). Before commissioning, you want to know where to look.
Optima Machine Verifier will not decide anything on behalf of those who do respond.
We are not selling it today and we are not announcing a date.
The Labour Code requires that a machine be kept in a state of conformity, including with regard to its operating instructions (article R4322-1). In the operating instructions, two agents are already proposed in a pilot version. They do not review the machine itself and do not replace Optima Machine Verifier.

Your document already exists? Optima Doc Auditor reads it and evaluates it based on 5 weighted criteria, then provides a PDF report. The trial tool, on the other hand, displays the priority differences in your document on the screen.

Has the machine been modified? Optima Doc Update updates its manual: it only rewrites the relevant chapters and keeps track of each change. No online trial: we show you during the 30-minute exchange.
In Optima Compliance, apart from testing tools, your documents are stored in France. They are never accessible to another client. They are not used to train an AI model.
The Optima Machine Verifier is not sold today. The 30-minute exchange is used to discuss your case.
The exchange is free of charge.
